Stormy is an internationally sought-after public speaker who has delivered keynote addresses around the globe. She debuted an inspirational TedTalk in 2018. An unconventional leader who went straight into the workforce, bypassing college and business school, she has been featured throughout the media landscape in outlets including Inc., The Washington Post, Forbes, SF Chronicle, MSN, Cheddar, Yahoo!, Entrepreneur, PopSugar, CNBC, and Fox Business. Stormy has also been recognized as a Power Player by the National Retail Federation and was named by Women Tech Council as Top Innovator. Her revolutionary executive leadership also led to multiple recognitions by AMEX/NRF's customer choice awards as well as sales & marketing recognition from the Stevie awards.
A celebrated business leader, Stormy recently launched Mother Ruggers, a brand-new venture in the textile industry, debuting a line of rugs and home furnishings. Stormy is unlike any other c-suite executive. She's a glass-ceiling shattering e-commerce pioneer, corporate renegade, cannabis activist, and public speaker. With early roots in radio, media buying and marketing, in 2001, a temp agency placed her at what was supposed to be a short-term assignment in the sales department at Overstock.com. Stormy thrived at Overstock, building internal departments including branding, marketing and customer service, where she coined the phrase “Customer Care.” She was promoted to VP of Branding in 2004 after writing and producing the iconic “Discover the Secret of the Big O” campaign, which propelled Overstock into becoming a household name. She was also instrumental in taking the company public and led the organization to become a top 25 trafficked e-tail site. Stormy worked to build Overstock.com to a $2b company and was elevated to President of in 2013.
In 2016, Stormy stepped down from the Presidency at Overstock and followed her passion into the world of cannabis. A longtime cannavangelist and recreational usage proponent, she began working at a cultivation facility in Denver, CO where she immersed herself in understanding Cannabis growth cycles and distribution. Inspired and educated by her new colleagues, Stormy became a medical advocate and mentor, which led her to multiple board positions. Cementing her role in the industry, she joined the board of High Times in 2017, and was named CEO in January 2020. Today, Stormy is the host of the Lunch with Stormy podcast and is on the advisory board of Mission Green and is working with multiple brands in the cannabis space as well as pursuing additional opportunities.
Active across multiple industries and disciplines, Stormy currently serves on the advisory board of the Young Musicians Foundation and 101 Studios, a global entertainment company dedicated to the acquisition, financing, development, production, and distribution of high-caliber entertainment including the series "Yellowstone."
